DAY 2: Climb to Horombo Hut: 12000 ft
Mandara Hut 8800 ft Mt Kilimanjaro, 830 am
This morning is the first morning on the mountain and everything seems normal. I got up once in the middle of the night to pee which I think prompted everyone else to the same. Everyone was super warm as our sleeping bags are made for -20 degree temperatures. Tara said she had some trouble sleeping but that could be because she said a few of us guys snored. All in all things are good this morning and we are about to eat a good breakfast.
Today we head out to Horombo Hut which sits at approximately 1200 ft. It is also supposed to be a very hot day as we emerge from the rain forest after our first hour and head into a more deserted zone. Tomorrow is a rest day that everyone is looking forward to as each person has their personal aches and pains. Mine are definitely my legs. But no one has anything that is climb threatening.
Please keep checking back and helping if you have the resources. It is truly amazing to see the look in the eyes of those coming down and seeing what we are attempting. This is truly special. Thank you for you support.
