Well I am sitting in the San Diego airport right now getting ready to fly to Salt Lake City and stay with Zack for almost a week. In that time, I am meeting with Overstock, Chris Waddell (the male paraplegic that conquered Kili in October), Ledge Sports CEO Andrew Peterson, Tara’s and Zack’s family and some others. This is a ridiculously exciting time as we are now just 20 days away from leaving for Africa. After next week, everyone arrives into San Diego for some prep time and filming, and then it is showtime. As much as I keep thinking about it, I cannot fathom any of the feelings I am going to have when we leave, when we arrive and when we climb. It is absolutely mind-boggling. Here are some pictures from my Christmas Day hike with my dog. I went out to Dixon Lake which isn’t really a treacherous hike, but it can be long. I was checking it out for two reasons, one, I had no plans on Christmas, and two, we are hiking there next week as one of our final preparation hikes. It was very successful and I took a couple cool pics while on a peak on my boy Barlowe. I will have lots to tell about after Salt Lake City, so stay tuned. Boo ya.

We are headed to Africa to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with two challenged athletes. Our goal is to raise awareness for individuals with physical challenges so they can participate and compete in the sports they love with portions of the proceeds to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation. By providing opportunities and resources needed for active lifestyles, CAF enhances these individuals’ self-esteem, independence and quality of life.In January of 2010, we start our journey from Los Angeles International Airport and head towards Tanzania, and we would like to invite all of you to follow along!
