Another Mt. Kilimanjaro fact
I was told today from a church member that the even though Kili is not the highest mountain in the world, but that once you are up there and on a clear day, you see from Mt. Kilimanjaro, the most landmass than from any other mountain. Its because when you are up there, you are looking down on plains and just plains all around. I am sure you can even see the ocean from up there (but don’t quote me on that one).
It is just going to be SO amazing the whole journey. I am really looking forward to interacting with the locals, see animals on the safari that we only see at the zoo here. And of course climb Mt. Kilimanjaro!
Tomorrow morning (Sunday), Penny, Myself, Tara, and about 4 girlfriends of Tara will all be going hiking with us. It will be good to just go through different females ideas around instead of have the male influence right there. So please check back with us as I’ll post pictures for everyone. We are headed to Africa to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with two challenged athletes. Our goal is to raise awareness for individuals with physical challenges so they can participate and compete in the sports they love with portions of the proceeds to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation. By providing opportunities and resources needed for active lifestyles, CAF enhances these individuals’ self-esteem, independence and quality of life.In January of 2010, we start our journey from Los Angeles International Airport and head towards Tanzania, and we would like to invite all of you to follow along!
